Mr. Pickles - Sketch by Spirit Creations

I need to explain who Mr. Pickles is. When I was a little kid, I had an "imaginary" friend. He'd come through my window at night and stay with me, and when I would awaken the next morning, he was there ready to play a game. This, of course, frightened my mother when I told her about the man coming through my window at night, and so she set up a video camera. On the tape, there I was playing with my "imaginary" friend. I called him "Mr. Pickles." He was very kind and loving and I adored him and he adored me. I had an incredible vocabulary as a child (I grew up around adults and was a part of their conversations and was never baby talked), and I described Mr. Pickles as having long white hair, long white beard, white robe, and twinkling blue eyes whenever he laughed or smiled. Nerd!!! Work In Progress by Spirit Creations

During my art survey, I was told that my viewers would like to see more realism (photorealism, if possible) and different species, especially canids, as well as new poses and emotion. Well, this is still a canid, but it's a different type. A bat-eared fox! :) This is a WIP of a piece I am doing titled "Nerd!!!" It shows the cruelty that some children/teens face in school by their peers and the struggle of not fitting in. He'll be crying and holding a bloody tissue from where he was beat up by the jocks. Poor dude. He's hiding in a bathroom stall at school, squished in between the stall wall and the toilet. I've been working on this on Mondays during my "art day off," which is the day I designate to do whatever art I feel like working on. I'm trying to do as my viewers wish and go for extreme realism. :D Thought I'd share the WIP! I can't wait to upload the finished piece! :) Art © S. Henson 2008
