::TERMS & GUIDELINES::
1. I must receive a 10% deposit of the total commission cost for both art and fursuit commissions in order to reserve a slot on my commission queue. This deposit is not refundable for fursuits and is only refundable for artwork if I have yet to begin the commission. I will not begin work on either fursuits or artwork until I receive 50% of the total commission cost. I will not ship the fursuit until I have received full payment. For artwork, I will not color the commission until I have received full payment. For noncolored pieces, you must pay in full at the beginning of the commission. Once full payment has been received, I will complete the commission and ship the artwork and/or fursuit either by snail mail (for fursuits or if ordered for artwork) or by email.
Example: The client orders a high-detailed commission for $300. In order to reserve a slot on my commission queue, the client must pay $30 to reserve a slot. The client then must pay $120 (which would then equal $150) for me to begin the commission and start the sketch. Once the sketch is approved, I will not color the commission until the client sends the other $150.
2. All information regarding the artwork and/or fursuit must be kept accurate and up-to-date. It is the responsibility of the client to make sure all measurements, shipping address, email address, and commission information is correct, etc. Any problems with shipping, fitting, or incorrect artwork, etc, that may occur from the mistake of the client will not result in a refund or a remake of any art of fursuit item. If I was the one to cause the mistake, I will request the customer send back the item and pay shipping costs and the problem will be corrected once I have verified the mistake.
Example: If I made a fursuit head 17 inches around, but the client's head is 20 inches around, I will rework it at my own cost (minus shipping fees) since I made the mistake.
3. Once the final artwork and/or fursuit commission has been received by the client, either in person or by email, the client has seven (7) days to report any problem with the artwork and/or fursuit. If the problem was caused by a fault of my own, I will rework the piece for free at my own cost. After the seven (7)-day period has passed, the commission will be considered closed and I will not refund the client, nor will I correct the artwork and/or fursuit. This is non-negotiable unless under extreme circumstances (i.e., the client had a death in the family and was unable to look at the commission, etc).
Example: We often do not notice mistakes on commissions the first time we look at the piece of art. You may notice a mistake regarding the character or the scene a few days later. The client will have seven (7) days to report a problem to me and I will fix the artwork and/or fursuit at my own cost (minus shipping fees).
4. Payments are accepted via PayPal or money orders only. I am not responsible for lost or stolen money orders in the mail. This is the responsibility of the customer only.
5. After I have shipped the artwork and/or fursuit, and I do not hear from the client of the commission's arrival, I will give the client a total of thirty (30) days from when I shipped the commission to report to me of the commission's arrival. Again, after the client has verified arrival, he/she has seven (7) days to report a problem with the commission. If I do not hear from the client after a thirty (30)-day period, the commission will be considered closed and I will no longer correct mistakes (see #3) and/or give refunds on the commission. This is not up for negotiation unless under extreme circumstances (i.e., the client was out of town due to a funeral, etc).
6. I do not accept deadlines for any type of commission unless the client wishes to pay an additional deadline fee of 10% of the total commission cost, or unless I otherwise state the commission comes with a deadline. I will not tolerate harrassment from clients about their commissions. If the client e-mails me more than seven (7) times in a thirty (30)-day period, I may consider this an annoyance and stop the commission immediately. I will then refund the client 50% of the commission cost minus the deposit fee and deadline fee. The client, may, however, e-mail me at any time and ask for a status report of their commission, but may not threaten or harrass me.
Example: The client wishes to purchase a $100 commission from me but would like the commisson finished within two weeks. The client must pay a $10 deadline fee. If a client purchases a $50 commission from me and wants a deadline, he must pay a $5 deadline fee, etc.
7. The client may cancel the commission at any time and receive a refund minus any deposit fee (unless I have yet to start on the commission), deadline fee (if applicable), and any fees based on work I had already done on the commission.
Example: The client ordered a $200 commission from me, but decided he/she did not want the commission a week later. However, I had already completed the sketch. I would refund the client $145 to the client ($35 for the sketch and $20 for the deposit fee). If I had not started work on the commission, the client would receive a $200 refund.
8. The client must complete my own commission form and e-mail it back to me. If the client sends me a description of the commission using their own form, I will request that the client fill out my own commission form. This is to ensure that the client's commission will be 100% accurate.
9. The client must approve a rough sketch before I begin inking and/or coloring the commission. If the client wishes for any changes to be made to the original sketch, the client must tell me before he/she approves the sketch. I absolutely will not rework the drawing once the sketch has been approved. This is both a waste of my time and other client's time who are waiting in the commission queue. The client may request fickle changes (i.e., changing the character from wearing a t-shirt to a tank top and then finally deciding on wearing no shirt at all) up to three (3) times during the sketching progress. After this, I will charge a fee of $5 per each additional character change. However, it the client requests any changes of the sketch due to the fault of myself, I will rework the sketch as many times as needed at my own cost and time.
Example: The client approves a sketch of a fox wearing a tuxedo and a top hat. I have already begun inking and coloring the commission and the client requests that I change the top hat to a fedora. This is not allowed, as it is a waste of my time and everyone elses's time to is waiting in queue. The client should have requested that change while the commission was still being sketched.
10. I will show work-in-progress pictures along the way so that the client may have control of his/her commission and work-in-progress photographs of fursuits. Besides updating my commission queue here at ArtSpots, I will also send out global commission updates to all of my clients regarding the commission queue and which commissions are currently being worked on. Again, it is the responsibility of the client to update me with any change in email addresses to ensure that they receive these updates. I will not be blamed for lack of communication if the client failed to update me of a change of email address.
Example: The client blames me for lack of communication during the commission progress, however, the client changed his email address without letting me know, and thus, did not receive any global updates and/or personal updates about the commission.
11. The client must read my rules and guidelines on this page and electronically sign that they have read and agree to my terms and guidelines. If the client has indeed not read the terms and guidelines, I will not be held responsible for any miscommunication during the commission process. I also will not accept a commission unless the client agrees to my terms and guidelines. This is both to ensure a positive experience with both the client and I.
Example: The client skimmed over my guidelines and electronically signed that she agrees. I begin the commission and finish the sketch. However, the client wants a refund two weeks down the road and gets angry when I did not refund him a full refund. Because the client skimmed over my guidelines, she did not read that I will only offer a full refund if I have yet to start on the commission. If the client would then begin to harrass me and/or threaten me, I would then have the right to post a warning on artists_beware on LiveJournal it I felt it was necessary.
12. I absolutely will not draw cub (babyfur) pornography, any children in sexual situations, adult pornography, fetishes of any kind, or rape. I will, however, draw violent scenes, depending on the situation. I will also draw tasteful nudity and cute pin-up poses, as long as the pose and/or nudity is not pornographic. The commission must stay within a PG-17 rating at all times.
Example: I have no problem drawing a nude male laying down on a bunch of pillows. However, I will not draw that male erect. He must remain flaccid. I have no problem drawing a cute sexy pose, but the character must not be touching themselves in a sexual manner or doing anything overly suggestive.
